Every year I torture myself by growing tomatoes and peppers!

First drop off of the season. This wonderful lady and her greenhouse feed two households here in Anaktuvuk pass. The snow storms have finally stopped and now it’s just dodging yellow jackets!

This is the worst part of the year for me. Seedlings straining out of their pots, random snow storms and having to wait it all out and have patience. #arctic #alaska #gardening #agriculture #sustainability #hardwork

One of my favorite catalogs came in! They sell good cold tolerant fruit trees and shrubs. The ones I ordered survived here u till I made mistakes and killed them :/

Most of the varieties of plants we use are unavailable this year due to seed shortages. So Gardens in the Arctic will be pretty much non existent, besides a couple of home gardens and my own backyard home garden. The high tunnel will also be taken down but hopefully be up again by the end of the year. But I still take the opportunity to do some variety trials. Grabbing what seed I can find.
